WHAT HAPPENED?
Networking for College of Computing wired networks was unavailable.
WHEN DID IT HAPPEN?
TSO was made aware of the issue starting just after 1pm, 9/4/19. Connectivity was resolved at 3:36pm. College services recovered soon after that.
WHY DID IT HAPPEN?
The wired networking outage was due to the College's redundant firewalls being unable to communicate with each other, forcing them into an endless reboot loop. Power cycling the entire chassis eventually solved the issue.
There was also a campus-wide networking outage that occurred at the same time as the College of Computing networking outage; more information on the campus-wide outage can be found here - GaTech Campus Network is down
WHO IS AFFECTED?
Users in College of Computing buildings (CCB, KACB, TSRB, and Coda) experienced issues with any service requiring wired networking. TSO is aware of issues with:
Desktop networking, mopiers, CoC websites, AdminFS, home directories, and CoC servers
