Through an IBM equipment donation, TSO has upgraded the KILLERBEE cluster to four IBM System x3550 M4 servers with dual 2.3GHz Intel Xeon E5-2630 (6-core) CPUs, 64GB RAM, and dual 120GB solid state disk drives (SSD). The OS on all KILLERBEE nodes is now Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3. Each year, IBM matches the amount of annual GT Charitable Campaign contributions in the form of equipment credits. OIT subsequently offers the credits to academic units to improve computing infrastructure.
The KILLERBEE cluster is available to CoC faculty and graduate students for general purpose computing. It can be used for lightweight and medium-weight computing but is not intended for heavyweight compute jobs or class usage. For research needs, refer to our high-performance computing (HPC) page for possible alternatives. For instructional needs, please use the Shuttles cluster.
