WHAT'S HAPPENEING
Users of MyGaTech may not be able to login or refresh their screens. When trying to login or refresh a screen, users may receive any one of the following errors:
502 bad gateway
http 404 or 500 error
blank web page
WHO/WHAT IS AFFECTED BY THIS OUTAGE?
All users of the following systems may be affected:
* MyGaTech email, calendar, and contacts
* BuzzPort users trying to access email &/or calendar
WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?
The intermittent problem was first noticed around 4:00 PM on Thursday, October 29, 2009. As of 12:00 PM, October 30, the problem is still present. OIT support staff are actively gathering data to isolate and analyze the problem.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
No user action should be necessary after the problem is resolved. Mail sent to MyGaTech users during the problem period will be queued in the central systems and delivered after the system is in operation again.

At times, users of MyGaTech e-mail, calendar and contacts
Effects to these users are:
Users ofMyGaTech are experiencing intermittent login problems,
slowness or system unresponsiveness.
WHAT IS HAPPENING?
Periodically, users are experiencing 502 GatewayError during the login
process. Systemadministrators continue to investigate the problem and
are working with the vendor to analyze system performancedata, rollback
configuration changes, identify the source, and correctthe problem. As
an interim system fix, the system is being restarted totemporarily clear
the problem when performance monitors indicate that theproblem has
reoccurred.
HOW LONG WILL THE SYSTEM BE DOWN/SLOW?
MyGaTech is up; however, intermittent login problems areoccurring with
users. Theproblems began on Thursday, 10/29 around 4:00pm and continue
to occur every 10-12 hours. OIT is actively monitoring the performance
and will take the current recommended action and restartservices as
needed based on system indicators until the root cause isisolated and the
vendor provides a solution.
WHEN WILL THE NEXT STATUS UPDATE BE PROVIDED?
The next status update will be provided by 6:00 pm today.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO WHEN THE SYSTEM IS AVAILABLEAGAIN?
Business as usual in most cases. However, if users receive login errors
(500, 501, 502 or blank screens), repeat the loginprocess. Mail sent to
MyGaTech users during the period of this outage will bequeued in the
central systems and delivered after the system is inoperation again.

STATUS UPDATE:
WHO IS AFFECTED?
MyGaTech e-mail, calendar and contacts
WHAT IS HAPPENING?
The My GaTech service has shown steady performance improvement over the
last 24 hours. On Thursday, October 29th, a BigIP (load
balancer device) configuration change was made.
This change was rolled back on Tuesday, 11/3/2009, at 12:30
pm. Performance graphs of the My GaTech service traced the problem back to
this change and have shown improved performance since the rollback action
was taken. We will continue monitoring the situation to ensure that the
problem is indeed resolved.
WHEN WILL THE NEXT STATUS UPDATE BE PROVIDED?
OIT will update the campus if the situation changes.
