WHAT’S HAPPENING?
Water service to GT's Atlanta campus may be turned off.


WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?
The maintenance window is scheduled to begin at 11:00 PM on Monday, June 4, 2018, and is expected to last 12-24 hours.


WHY IS IT HAPPENING?
The City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management (DWM) discovered a leak caused by a failed joint on 36-inch pipe near the Hemphill Steam Pumping Station.  A contractor has been mobilized to begin preparations for the repair with line stopping equipment which will enable DWM to isolate the leaking joint.  While every attempt is being made to complete the repair without disrupting water service, there is the possibility of a water outage that would include Georgia Tech, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and local hospitals and businesses.  In case of problems during the repair, potable and chilled water service on campus may become unavailable.


WHO IS AFFECTED?
Occupants of GT offices and lab space.  Academic and research servers located in TSO data centers may be powered down during the maintenance window, if the chilled water service needs to be shut off.


WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
All CoC personnel and students should shut down their workstations and any non-essential systems before leaving for the day on Monday, June 4, 2018
