WHAT’S HAPPENING?

Upon login to GT authenticated servers, users are not being assigned to the correct system groups, which may be affecting users' ability to run certain commands or access files.

Affected servers:

All Unix servers which rely on GT authentication, including Jinx-login and Deepthought.

WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?

This issue is ongoing and currently being investigated.

WHY IS IT HAPPENING?

GT's LDAP is failing to return the appropriate list of groups for a user.

WHO IS AFFECTED?

All College of Computing faculty, staff, and students using GT authenticated servers.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?

In most cases, logging completely out of the affected system, waiting a few minutes, and logging in again resolves the issue.
