On July 8, 2008, CERT released a Security Alert regarding multiple DNS implementations that are vulnerable to cache poisoning (see http://www.us-cert.gov/cas/techalerts/TA08-190B.html for details). This coincides with a massive multi-vendor patch release to resolve the issue. Because of the severity of the issue, TSO has scheduled emergency maintenance for 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 9. We will be testing the patch against one of our DNS servers, glyptal.cc.gatech.edu. If the test is successful, we plan to expedite patching of our remaining DNS servers. While this DNS server will be down during the maintenance period, our remaining DNS servers will continue to provide name resolution services, and users should not be affected.
